TOP 10 SUPERAGER EXPERIENCES

Top 10 SuperAger Experiences

BY: Stuart Bold

We have probably all heard of the ‘bucket list’ – the list of the top things you want to do before you die. Well, with the SuperAger Life aim in mind of living longer, and driven by the desire for on going experiences, every year of a long life, we thought that a ‘Life Lived Large (and still going) List’ would be a great thing to do. We also thought that making a new LLLL every year is the way to go; aiming to tick off as many of the 10 experiences as we can on the list every year, before creating a new list, for the next year.

For some (and certainly for me), my list of experiences ‘not yet had’ is a long one. I am however fortunate to be able to say that the list of experiences I have had so far, is a decent one, including:

  • Living on a secluded beach in Mexico for a year, sleeping in a hammock, sharing the beach with giant turtles…
  • Training to be a skydiver and logging a bunch of jumps under my belt
  • Scuba diving around the world and logging nearly 1000 dives to date
  • Diving in underground caverns in Mayan rainforest
  • Doing a ski season and skiing lots of lovely places around the world
  • Flying in a private jet
  • Driving in a Bugatti Veyron
  • Travelling in nearly 50 countries to date
  • Living in New York, France, Mexico
  • Sailing, Surfing, Riding
  • Waking up on my birthday in a mountain monastery in India that I had climbed to the night before
  • Silent meditation retreats
  • Working as a lawyer in New York and London
  • Working for a year in a hospital as a Reiki practitioner, working with cancer patients
  • And a few other things along the way

There will however, for me, always be a list and ‘another thing’ that I hope and plan to do and experience.

So, I have taken the liberty of writing down, completely off the top of my head, a list of my next Top 10 SuperAger Life experiences that I hope to achieve soon (before creating my next list):

  • Trekking the Inca Trail to Machu Pichu
  • Journeying on the Orient Express
  • Getting a full back tattoo
  • Dog sledding with huskies in the snow
  • Going to a hot air balloon festival
  • Doing Glastonbury (finally!)
  • Cruising down the Nile and visiting Egyptian monuments
  • Learn to paint
  • Learn Tai Chi or Qi Gong
  • Sailing, as crew, across the Atlantic
  • Dance the night away at a club in Ibiza

We would love to know what your SuperAger ‘Life Lived Large (and still going) List’ is. And here is an incentive – when we have a bunch of SuperAgers that share a similar experience they want to achieve, we will do our best to bring you together, organise it and make it happen for the group.

As an example, if you go to the ‘About Us’ page of this site, you will see a post about ‘Why I started SuperAger Life’. It refers, in part, to Skydiving – and being told, by some extremely dopey and short-sighted skydiving schools, that they did not teach people aged over 50.

So, we will now have an annual SuperAger Life Skydiving weekend (with skydiving schools that have the sense to know that age 50+ is not even middle aged – at least, not in my book). And, if the annual SuperAger Life sSkydive weekend is of interest, then maybe also the annual Ski trip, or Sailing trip or Diving trip or Trek……..  – Let’s All Get Started

Yes, I've been on the receiving end of some of these 😆People often say I look good for may age…I always have a little giggle to myself and think I probably would have said that as a young person as well.

I kind of think its ok for an older women to say it to another older women, but totally not OK when it comes form a young person and definitely not Ok if its coming from a man commenting on the way you look.

It’s kinda funny, but what do you think? Can you relate to any of these? I would love for you to add to my list xx
